SYNOPSIS
My name’s Maribel a transsexual from Castellón. I’ve always felt like
this, for as long as I can remember and this is painful to tell because
of the memories that appear.
This is the beginning of the story of Maribel the first transsexual
one that changed of sex in Castellón thanks to the new law of Genre
Identity Law. His life has been hard, sometimes sad, but she shows
a strong force when she says: “I think we can learn from everything,
and the effort is worth it.

I knew Maribel when I was preparing the casting for a feature film.
She told me about her story and her composure drew my attention.
Her life was full of dramas and tragedies but there was also a background
of inner fight very difficult to show in a movie picture.
I can’t remember who had the idea of making a documentary about her,
anyway from the beginning I was sure it was going to be a very interesting
project. While we commented the passages of her life, everything seemed
to me very rough, very terrible, although he always said a message
of hope. Then I tried to capture our conversations into the camera:
the tragedy of a person who always lived in shadows, without identity,
in an alien body and had to break away from her masculine half to be
able to live in complete freedom and accepted by the society. A hopeful
end it was necessary.
I suppose that this process will not be very different from many other
transsexuals who have suffered humiliations and contempts, in particular
their friends and relatives. In addition they also had to change their
social role to be able to feel completely integrated. The voice of
Maribel is only one voice but perhaps is one of the most representative,
her activism and sensitivity prove this.
